This exercise allows you to practice generating compassion for others. Others close to you and others further away, and pairing this with some practical action.
This might be particularly helpful if the ‘radius’ of looking after little children is starting to feel too small.
Practicing compassion for others can boost our own mood, lower blood pressure and enhance our immune function. It also engages area of the brain responsible for empathy and activates pleasure pathways associated with joy.
